About IPS

 The Polytechnic Institute of Santarém is a polytechnic public higher education institution, at the service of society, committed to the high level qualification of the citizens, destined to the production and diffusion of the knowledge, creation, transmission and diffusion of the knowledge of professional nature, Science, technology, the arts, guided research and experimental development, emphasizing centrality in the student and the surrounding community, within an international frame of reference. It is recognized as a pole of development and a reference in training, culture and research developed in the region, created in the 70’s, currently comprises five High Schools, four in the city of Santarém and one in the city of Rio Maior.

“One of the missions of IPSantarém is to develop community-based R&D, specifically the Organic Higher School of Education (ESE) unit has for the past 6 years developed work in coordinating and participating in national and international projects in the field of social and digital inclusion. To know:

  • 2018-2019. “Digital Literacy for the Labor Market” Training https://labourmarketformation.wordpress.com/ Training for young people with a disability of 60% or more. It is an innovative program, whose most relevant feature is the fact that it is the first model of inclusive education training in a higher education context in Portugal. The main objective is the development of well-being and digital, social and labor inclusion from the higher education environment. This training lasts for 2 years.

  • 2017-2018. #TV T21 COMmunity # e-Skills, social inclusion and employability http://t21.ese.ipsantarem.pt is an ongoing project aimed at promoting and facilitating social inclusion, e-skills development and employability. of young citizens with trisomy 21 in the tourism area. It has the participation of 3 European countries.Painting

  • 2015. Beyond Risks, was a project that culminated in an exhibition of four-handed art by renowned artists and young people with Trisomia 21. The goal was to mobilize the motor and creative skills of young people in conjunction with a professional planning and designing a work of art seeking to increase self-esteem and foster social and artistic inclusion.

  • 2015. SafeLabs (Safe Education and Internet Surfing in Computer Labs for People with Intellectual Disability) http://safelabs.eu/en/project/ International project whose main focus was on safe computer labs. One of the goals of the project was to create a beneficial and safe condition for people with mental disabilities by working in computer labs. The secure lab certificate has been created and introduced.

  • 2013. Summer Polytechnic Academy was a pilot project for people with special educational needs. The first edition of the Summer Polytechnic Academy aimed to provide technical, experimental and artistic activities to young people with intellectual disabilities who could not otherwise enter higher education.

  • 2011. Postgraduate in SEN – Cognitive and Motor Domain is a training project aimed at elementary and secondary school teachers, aiming to specialize them in the teaching group 910 – Special Ed.”
